Welcome to the annual symposium of DIM BioConvS, a day to connect, exchange, and explore cutting-edge science at the crossroads of synthetic biology, bioproduction, and biotherapy.

This year’s edition, titled Joining Forces, proudly opens its doors to members of other regional research networks (DIMs) whose themes intersect with ours:

• OneHealth2.0 – tackling global health challenges at the animal-human-environment interface

• ITAC – advancing translational research in cancer

• C-BRAINS – supporting innovation in neurosciences

• AI4IDF – fostering the development and integration of artificial intelligence in research and healthcare

Keynote Speakers

We are thrilled to welcome two international researchers:

• Dr. Karmella Haynes, Associate Professor at Georgia Tech and Emory University, works at the interface of synthetic biology and epigenetics, developing tools for gene regulation and exploring biomedical applications of noncoding RNAs.

• Prof. Dr. Wilfried Weber, Scientific Director at the Leibniz Institute for New Materials, leads research on stimulus-responsive materials, biosensors, and optogenetic tools, integrating synthetic biology with materials science.

A Day to Exchange and Showcase

Expect a dynamic program including:

• Short talks selected from community submissions – open until June 21

• A thriving poster session spotlighting research across disciplines

• Roundtables on IP management and bioethics in synthetic biology

• The Stands Village, back by popular demand – this year focusing on technical platforms. We invite 20 platforms to present their services. Applications are open to the community until June 21.

With extended breaks, a lively cocktail, and a space dedicated to innovation and funding opportunities—including regional and EU-level actors—the event is a unique opportunity to expand your network and build new collaborations.

We invite researchers to pitch their projects during the conference in a 10-minute presentation. Submit an abstract to be selected!

Pitches are open to the entire BioConvS community, as well as members of OneHealth2.0, C-BRAINS, AI4IDF, and ITAC who are working on topics that also fall within BioConvS. See the list of topics

If you are selected for a pitch, a poster will also automatically be assigned to you so that interested network members can interact with you during the poster session.

Are you part of a technological platform or a lab with equipment you'd like to showcase? Join the Stands Village at Innovation Day 2025! We are looking for 20 platforms or research teams from the BioConvS community to present their tools, technologies, or expertise. This is a great opportunity to connect with potential users, collaborators, and partners. To apply, please submit a short résumé describing your platform or equipment by June 21.

We invite all members of our community to submit an abstract for presenting a poster on the day of the conference. Students, platforms, and researchers seeking collaborations are especially encouraged to participate in this session.
